Description

A dazzling gem of a wine, donning a rich garnet attire with playful ruby highlights. As you dive in for a sniff, you're greeted by a merry band of aromas—ripe red fruits and licorice dancing hand-in-hand with vanilla, smoke, and a dash of cinnamon, all thanks to a merry stint in the oak barrel. But hold on, the party doesn't stop there! Tertiary aromas of leather and tobacco come to join the fiesta, a result of the bottle's extended stay in a cozy corner.

Now, let's talk about the grape heroes. 30-year-old, vine-superstars donning capes, aka the Tempranillo grapes, gallantly sourced from the valleys of Haro, Villalba, and Foncea in the realm of Rioja Alta. But wait, there's a mysterious character too—the Mazuelo. This enigmatic figure hails from the enchanting Viña Lanciano vineyard, perched beside the whimsical River Ebro, bringing concentrated flavor vibes that can withstand the test of time.

The adventure begins at the winery, where these handpicked celebs undergo a sorting double dance, first by bunch and then by berry. The magic-making starts with a fermentation fête in tiny stainless-steel tanks at a chill 30ºC, complete with daily pump-over parties. But the fun doesn't stop there—post-fermentation, the gang luxuriates in a maceration party that polishes those tannins till they're smooth as silk. Cue the spotlight on the barrel, where the real transformation magic happens—malolactic fermentation waltzes in, resulting in a texture so creamy, it's like sipping a cloud.

The Gran Reserva spends 28 months time in a mix of French and American oak barrels. But that's not all... Another 36 months of bottle snooze fest takes place in the mysterious cellars of Bodegas LAN, only to emerge as the hero you see today.
